NEBIDO 1000MG 4ML SOLUTION FOR INJECTION
Before injecting NEBIDO®, your doctor will examine you to check for prostate cancer. If your age is advanced, the risk of developing prostate enlargement during the use of androgens such as NEBIDO® may be higher. Although there is no clear evidence that androgens constitute prostate cancer, they may increase the growth of existing prostate cancer.
- First, your doctor will have to take a testosterone blood sample to measure the amount of testosterone and other contents in the blood.
- • hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients (listed in section 6.1).
- Natural testosterone levels fall slowly with age and fall rapidly following surgical removal of the testicles (for example in the treatment of testicular cancer).
- Low levels of testosterone can cause decreased sex drive, impotence, infertility due to decreased sperm production, decreased mental and physical activity, fatigue and weakening of bones (osteoporosis).
- The effects of testosterone in some organs arise after peripheral conversion of testosterone to estradiol, which then binds to estrogen receptors in the target cell nucleus e.g. the pituitary, fat, brain, bone, and testicular Leydig cells.
This medicine contains 2000 mg Benzyl benzoate in each 4 ml ampoule/vial which is equivalent to 500 mg/ml. Testosterone and derivatives have been reported to increase the activity of coumarin derived oral anticoagulants (see also section 4.5). Androgens may accelerate the progression of sub-clinical prostatic cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Due to variability in laboratory values, all measures of testosterone should be carried out in the same laboratory. Limited data do not suggest the need for a dosage adjustment in elderly patients (see section 4.4). Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has toldyou.

Our Treatments
Testosterone replacement allows natural testosterone levels to return to normal, thus relieving the symptoms of the deficiency. Athletes treated for testosterone replacement in primary and secondary male hypogonadism should be advised that the medicinal product contains an active substance which may produce a positive reaction in anti-doping tests. Nebido should be used only if hypogonadism (hyper- and hypogonadotrophic) has been demonstrated and if other aetiology, responsible for the symptoms, has been excluded before treatment is started. In patients suffering from severe cardiac, hepatic or renal insufficiency or ischaemic heart disease, treatment with testosterone may cause severe complications characterised by oedema with or without congestive cardiac failure. Male hormones may increase the growth of prostate cancer and enlarged prostate glands (benign prostatic hypertrophy).
Therefore, testosterone replacement therapy should be used with caution in these patients. In 2013, a study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of testosterone undecanoate therapy on bone mineral density (BMD) and biochemical markers of bone turnover in elderly males with osteoporosis and low serum testosterone levels. Testosterone can increase the growth of prostate cancers and benign enlargement of the prostate. Your doctor will perform various examinations to make sure you don’t have prostate cancer before you start treatment with this medicine. Your doctor will need to perform a digital rectal exam to check your prostate gland at least once a year while you are receiving testosterone replacement (more frequently than this if you are elderly or have risk factors for prostate cancer).
Before your doctor injects Nebido, he/she will examine you to check that you do not have prostate cancer. Before you start Nebido injections, there are some steps to take with your medical team.
